Assam Police late Thursday night arrested six more suspected militants allegedly having links to Jamat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB). With this, the total number of persons arrested in this connection has risen to 10.
The kingpin is one Ashique, and he is believed to be close to JMB operatives in West Bengal and Bangladesh.
While two persons were picked up from a village in Goalpara district, four others were nabbed following a raid at different villages in Chirang late Thursday night. Two rifles and some small arms were recovered from their possession.
The six arrested have been identified as Noor Mohammad, Malek Sheikh, Mostafa Mandal, Hafijur Ali, Suleiman Ali and Mofijul Islam.
