Jihad's death: Six indicted

A court here on Tuesday framed charges against six people over the death of minor boy Jihad in the city in 2014.
Jihad, 4, died after falling into an abandoned a deep tube-well in Shahjahanpur area of city on December 26, 2014. Judge Dr Mohammad Akhteruzzaman of Dhaka Special Judge’s Court fixed October 18 for starting the trial of the case after rejecting the discharge petition filed by the six accused.
The six accused are: Shafiqul Islam alias Abdus Salam, contractor of M/S SR House, Md Jahangir Alam, senior sub assistant engineer (inspector of tube-well division) of Bangladesh Railway (BR), its assistant engineers Md Nasir Uddin, Zafor Ahmmed Shakir, Dipak Kumar Bhowmik and Md Saiful Islam.
Earlier on April 7, police submitted the charge-sheet over the death of Jihad.
The accident took place when the four-year-old fell into an abandoned tube-well at Shahjahanpur Railway Colony on December 26, 2014.
