The Detective Branch(DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (Gulshan Zone), in a raid, arrested six drug dealers along with 39,200 Yaba tablets from Jatrabari area in the capital on Saturday.
The arrestees were Md Tariqul Islam ,37, Md Faruk Hossain ,48, Md Rakibul Haque alias Rakib ,26, Md Rafiqul Islam alias Shaon ,23, Farhad Bhuiyan ,19 and Md Al Amin ,32.
DB (north) Additional Deputy Commissioner Golam Saqlain confirmed the matter to BSS yesterday.
Being informed, the DB team conducted the drive in the area around 8.30 pm on Saturday at a place on Dhaka-Chattogram highway and arrested two drug peddlers along with 39,200
Yaba pills as they were carrying a large consignment of Yaba tablets on a truck, he said.
Law enforcers seized the truck and subsequently arrested the rest of drug traders from Dhalpur area under Jatra Bari Thana as per the information given by the previously nabbed persons, he added.
After initial interrogation, all of them confessed that they were involved in drug dealing.
Legal actions have been taken against them.
