Six get life for murder in dists

A court here on Wednesday sentenced two people to death for killing a young man in 2012.
The convicts are Sakiur Chowdhury, son of Abdul Hai and Gaziur Chowdhury, son of Ramiz Mia of Shibpasha village in Ajmiriganj upazila.
The court also acquitted 13 other accused.
According to the prosecution, neighbour Sakiur Chowdhury called Basir Mia, 30, son of Bodiuzzaman, over mobile phone in the night of June 9, 2013 and since then he reportedly went missing.
Following this incident, victim’s elder brother Jishu Mia filed a case against 12 people with Ajmiriganj Police Station on June 24.
Later, police arrested Sakiur on the same day and based on his confession, recovered Basir’ body from a field near Nairakhara Beel where he was buried after killing.
As a sequel of previous enmity, they killed Basir Mia, he said. Police, however, submitted the charge sheet on December 15, 20013. Gaziur went hiding after the killing.
After examining records and witnesses, Habiganj Additional District and Session Judge SM Nazim Reza handed down the verdict.
UNB from Brahmanbaria adds: A court here on Tuesday sentenced a woman and three others to death for killing her husband over extramarital affair in 2009.
The convicts are Kohinur Begum, Doha alias Duissa, Abul Khayer and Golap Mia. Among the convicts, Abul Khayer was tried in absentia.
According to the prosecution, Kohinur, wife of Shahjahan Khan of Jalshuka village in Nabinagar upazila, had developed an extramarital relation with Doha.
On December 2, 2009, she along with Doha and two others killed Shahjahan.
Later, Shahajahan’s father Abdul Bari filed a case with Nabinagar Police Station.
After an investigation, police submitted a chargesheet against six people in the case.
After examining records and witnesses, Additional District and Sessions Judge Sheikh Razia Sultana handed down the verdict and acquitted two others as allegations brought against them could not be proved.
