Six fraudsters held in city

Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) on Friday arrested six members of an organised syndicate from different areas of the capital on charge of misappropriating money on promise to give civil job in Bangladesh Army.
The elite force also recovered nine fake appointment letters from them. The arrestees are Mamun Akand, 23, Md Abul Kashem, 52, Abdur Razzak, 57, Tarek Hasan, 53, Nasir Uddin, 46, and Md Rashedul, 32.
Sources at the Rab headquarters said Abul Kashem and Nasir retired from Bangladesh Army while Tarek Hasan from Bangladesh Police. Several groups have been involved in cheating poor people by promising to provide job in various civil posts at cantonment boards. They have been taking Tk 4-5 lakh giving fake appointment letters, added the sources. Based on the allegations, a team of RAB-1 conducted drives in different areas of the city on Friday and arrested the six cheats along with nine appointment letters.
They have already misappropriated Tk 39 lakh from 13 people promising them to provide jobs.
