Police in a drive detained three terrorists and recovered six firearms and 128 rounds of bullets from Kanchabazar area under Shyampur of the city’s Gendaria on Friday morning.
The arrested men were identified as Razu Gazi, 40, from Chandpur, Minhazul Islam, 28, inhabitant of city’s Khilgaon, and Shawkat Hossen, 38, from Tangail, Police said.
Md Ibrahim Khan, Deputy Commissioner (Wari Division) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP, told the reporters in a press briefing on the DMP Media center on Friday afternoon, “Based of information, a team of police led by
Md Mizanur Rahman, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Shyampur Police Station, took position at Kanchabazar where some men might have gathered to sell arms and bullets.”
“Around 8:30am, Razu Gazi brought out a pistol from his bag and kept round the waist under the shirt. Soon after seeing the pistol, cops personnel caught Razu and his two other followers. Razul also shot targeting the police men. Police also fired apart from defense, ” the DC said.
The alleged gang traders fled from the spot instantly, the police official said.
Two members of the law enforcers were injured during the operation, the DC said.
We are hunting the origin and suppliers of the arms, according to him.
A case was filed with the Ahampur Police Station in this connection, he added.
