Pro-BNP lawyers on Wednesday from a Sit-in program demanded Khaleda Zia’s release, medical treatment and transfer of the court from the Old Dhaka Central Jail where the trial of Zia Charitable Trust case is being held.
The sit-in program was organized on the Supreme Court Bar Association premises.
‘Jatiyatabadi Ainjibi Forum’, a pro-BNP lawyers’ forum, organized the program.
Forum’s Secretary General Barrister A M Mahbub Uddin Khokan declared new program like human chain.
On September 16 and 19, all the bars, including the Supreme Court bar, will observe this program throughout the country.
The lawyers warned of unabated program if false cases against Khaleda Zia are not scraped.
Barrister Khokan said, “No democratic movement can be suppressed by arrest and filing of cases. Former President H M Ershad could not stop the movement, so, the present government too will be able to do this.” Former Secretary of the SCBA Barrister Badruddoza Badal, Advocate Golam Mohammad Chowdhury Alal, Advocate Gazi Kamrul Islam Sajal, Advocate Mohammad Ali, Advocate Abed Raza, Advocate Ayub Ali Ashrafi and other lawyers were present in the program.
