RU Correspondent :
To oppose the decision of introducing evening master’s courses and fee increase of different sectors including examination by the Rajshahi University (RU) authority, the students of the university are going to organise a sit-in programme today.
Under the banner of “General Students against Evening Courses and Fee Increase”, RU students announced the programme in a press conference yesterday.
Abdullah al Muaz, a student of sociology department said, “We had given a memorandum to the administration to stop the initiative of introducing evening courses at Social Science, Faculty of Arts, Business and Law Department. But the authority showed no concern about the issue.”
The students also raised their voice against increasing the fee of exam and other sectors.
The students, however, alleged that evening courses were intended to increase the profit margins of teachers as well as the administration rather than to enhance the scope of education.
The authorities should stop the existing evening MBA and law courses and initiative to introduce such courses at other departments and must decline the increased fee. Otherwise, we have to set tougher movement, they added.
The students urged all to join the sit in progamme to build up a strong movement against the issues.
Among others, Utshab Mosaddak of Social Work Department, Ayatullah khomeni of Pysics Department, Abu Sufian of Folklore Department and Alamgir Hossain of Anthropology Department were present at the press conference.
