A truck has rammed a police pickup van leaving three, including a policeman, dead in the Sirajganj Sadar Upazila. At least five people including two policemen were also injured in the accident in the early hours of Wednesday at Mulibari area on the Bangabandhu Bridge (west) road. Sirajganj Sadar Police OC Habibul Islam said two among the dead had been identified as Sirajganj Police Line Constable Abdul Baset and pickup driver Mafizul Islam. Police could not immediately identify the other victim. OC Habibul said a truck hit the pickup, which in turn rammed into a northbound bus from Dhaka that was stranded following breakdown. The Khalek Enterprise bus being repaired on the road and the policemen had arrived to provide security. The crash killed three on the spot. Injured Sub-Inspector ‘Jinnah’, Subedar Manirul Islam and the others were admitted to the Sirajganj Sadar Hospital. –bdnews24.com
