The Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court of Dhaka on Thursday placed singer Krishnakali’s husband Md Khaliqur Rahman Orko on a 2-day remand in connection with the ‘suicide’ of their domestic help at their Taltola residence in the city.
Metropolitan Magistrate Nuru Miah passed the order after Sushil
Chandra Barman, Sub-Inspector of Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station, produced him to the court seeking a 5-day remand for
interrogation.
Jannat Akter Shilpi, domestic help of
Krishnakali’s house, was found hanging in a room of their Taltola Mollapara residence at around Wednesday afternoon, said SI Sushil. She was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) where the physicians declared her dead. After announcement of death, duty officer of
DMCH police camp detained Orko and then informed Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station, he said.
Then a team of police took Orko to the police station from DMCH police camp. A general diary was lodged with the police station in this connection. Later, he was shown arrested under Section 54 of the Code of Criminal Procedure and sent to the court.
