Xinhua, Singapore :
Port of Singapore was named “Best Seaport in Asia” for the 29th time at the 2017 Asia Freight, Logistics and Supply Chain Awards (AFLAS) held here on Thursday, the Straits Times reported.
China’s Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and the Chinese city of Shanghai were the two other finalists in the “Best Seaport in Asia” category of AFLAS awards this year.
The Singapore port won for its “leading performance on a range of criteria,” according to the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore.
It said the criteria include cost competitiveness, container shipping-friendly fee regime, provision of suitable container shipping-related infrastructure, timely and adequate investment in new infrastructure to meet future demand as well as the facilitation of ancillary services.
The AFLAS awards is organized by freight and logistics publication Asia Cargo News and are conferred based on votes cast by Asia Cargo News readers.
