Silver jubilee of DU BD-Kuwait Maitree Hall celebrated

Bangladesh-Kuwait Maitree Hall of Dhaka University on Friday celebrated its silver jubilee amid enthusiasm and festivity.
Vice-Chancellor Professor AAMS Arefin Siddique inaugurated the celebration hoisting balloons and releasing pigeons in the morning.
Earlier, students of the dormitory brought out a colorful procession on the campus.
Marking the day, a discussion was organised at the dormitory, which was attended by Prof Arefin Siddique as the chief guest while Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof Nasreen Ahmad and Treasurer Prof Kamal Uddin were present as the special guests with the hall provost Prof Mubina Khondkar in the chair.
Arts Faculty Dean Professor Md Akhtaruzzaman delivered a memorial lecture titled “Searching the Root of University: Perspective Dhaka University” at the function.
Prof Arefin said the university led in all social and political movements of the country.
The students of this dormitory are also associates with the leadership as they passed 25-year and achieved their ties with the society and the state, he added.
Later, the vice-chancellor distributed ‘Maitree Foundation 2013-14 Gold Medal and Scholarship” among the winners. A cultural function was also held on the occasion.
