Leaders and activists of Juba League and Chhatra League of port city have taken sit-in-program at the entry point of Chattogram Airport uyesterday morning by declaring resistance to Maulana Mamunul Haque, a leader of Hefazat-e-Islam, for his anti-sculpture speech.They took up position on the road at the entrance of the airport from 8:30 am on Friday .
Leaders and activists of Juba League led by Mohiuddin Bachchu, convener of Mahanagar Juba League, chanted slogans against Mamunul Haque.
Leaders and activists of Patenga Thana Chhatra League are also carrying out sit-in program under the direction of Mahanagar Chhatra League.
Earlier on Thursday last at an anti-militancy rally in front of the Chattogram Press Club, BCL leaders and activists declared resistance to Hefazat leader Mamunul Haque in Chattogram .
Zakaria Dastagir, general secretary of Mahanagar Chhatra League, told media that Mamunul Haque, who threatened to destroy the sculpture of the Father of the Nation, would not be allowed to enter Chattogram.
Mamunul Haque has been repeatedly identified as an enemy of the nation with provocative statements earlier, the leaders in the sitin program said. So the people of Chattogram rejected him with hatred.
Zakaria Dastagir said that the leaders and activists of Patenga Thana Chhatra League have been. stationed at Dewanhat and Oxygen junctions to resist the entrance.
Mohiuddin Bachchu, convener of Mahanagar Juba League, told that fundamentalist Mamunul Haque will not be allowed to enter Chattogram and we are stationed at different points of the city to resist him. Hundreds of Juba League leaders and activists have been stationed at the entrance of the airport since morning.
