Former Australia batter Jamie Siddons has been recalled to Bangladesh cricket by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB). He will begin working as a batting consultant with the Tigers from February.
In a video message on his YouTube channel, Siddons spoke about the historic victory of Bangladesh in the New Zealand tour. Furthermore, he stated that his major objective is to make Bangladesh consistent in all three formats.
“I got the visa to Bangladesh. My next coaching chapter will be there. I hope to work for two years. I will return to Australia for the T20 World Cup in October. I am looking forward to work with young talented batters in Bangladesh. Those who are playing in the national team and are in the junior development program. I love helping juniors improve their game,” said Siddons.
“Bangladesh’s most notable achievement was the win against New Zealand in Tests. They did well in the first match. The batting was great, they did well in bowling. But in the second match, everything turned upside down again. I don’t know why. However, this is the case, somewhat inconsistent. I hope I can go there and help in this matter,” he added.
Siddons worked as Bangladesh’s head coach from October 2007 to April 2011. He developed players like Shakib Al Hasan and Tamim Iqbal, notably, as batters.
Under his tenure, Bangladesh beat New Zealand 4-0 in the 2010-11 ODI series, marked as the first top-tier team Bangladesh beat in a full series.
