Batting coach of Bangladesh Cricket team Jamie Siddons said, ” My boys have to play big innings in Test cricket. They should learn to play big innings. Our team are doing good in One Day International (ODI) cricket. But our batters are not batting up to the mark in Test cricket. So, the batters have to play big innings to do well in Test cricket. Our batters lost their wickets very early in Test cricket. Even they lost their wickets in a couple of time. A number of three to four batters of Bangladesh were out just in a few moments. They have to come out from those position. The boys should be attentive to play big innings in Test cricket.”
Jamie Siddons has become Batting Coach of Bangladesh Cricket team in February of this year. Siddons has started his assignment between the series of Bangladesh and Afghanistan. Then, he watched the batters performance in ODI cricket and also Twenty20 International (T20I) cricket. Later, he worked with the batters against South Africa ODI series and Test series, which concluded recently. It may be mentioned that Jamie Siddons worked as a head coach of Bangladesh Cricket team.
However, He is now working as a Batting Coach of Bangladesh Cricket team. He observed that the batters of Bangladesh ODI team did well against South Africa. But the batters failed to show respectable performance against South Africa in Test cricket. Siddons now wants that his boys will perform well against Sri Lanka in the upcoming two-match Test series. He wants that the batters of Bangladesh will improve their performance against Sri Lanka.
Siddons gave the example of the outgoing Test matches between Bangladesh and South Africa.
He said, ” Our notable batters were out after scoring 40 to 50. They could not make their innings big. The batters have to score centuries. If Bangladesh team want to win in Test match, the batters should play big innings and make centuries.”
He said, ” Bangladesh Cricket team scored 300 runs against South Africa. They have to score 400 to 450 runs against their opponents. In that situation, the opponents will be under pressure.”
Sri Lanka Cricket team will arrive in Bangladesh on May 8 to play two Test matches against Bangladesh. Bangladesh will take on Sri Lanka in the first Test match at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram from May 15 to May 19. Bangladesh will face Sri Lanka in the second Test match at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka from May 23 to May 27.
