Speakers at a human chain on Thursday demanded immediate rescue of businessman Abu Bakar Siddique, the husband of green activist Syeda Rizwana Hasan.
Writers, artistes, politicians, academics, lawyers and journalists formed the
human chain in front of National Press Club in the afternoon. Unidentified miscreants abducted Abu Bakar Siddique from Bhuigarh on the Dhaka-Narayanganj Link Road under Fatulla Police Station in Narayanganj on Wednesday afternoon.
Addressing the human chain programme, Dhaka University teacher and historian Ahmed Kamal said the country is no passing through a serious political crisis. “There’s no guarantee of a normal death.”
He called upon the people to be united to protest against the extrajudicial killings.
New Age editor Nurul Kabir said the country has now turned into a valley of extrajudicial killing, abduction and rape. “The government is trying to control the opposition opinions against them.”
He urged people of all sections to get united to raise their voices against the current misrule.
Jahangirnagar University teacher Anu Muhammad observed that no citizen is now safe in the country, urging the law enforces to take immediate steps to rescue Abu Bakar Siddique.
