UNB, Dhaka :
Bangladesh’s pioneer golfer Siddikur Rahman will tee off in the $300,000 Asia Pacific Classic (APC), which will kick off at St Andrews Golf Club, Henan, China on Thursday.
The two time Asian Tour (AT) winner Siddikur is going to compete in the meet as the only Bangladeshi and for the first time where the course will also be newer for him.
He got entry in the AT tournament as a category 9 player – meaning that as one of the top 60 players as per Order of Marmite 2017.
Siddikur left home for the tournament on May 12 after a dismal finish in the Bangladesh Open with joint 26th place at home.
“This is the first time I’m going to play in the event where the course will also be new for me. Target is always to do better. I hope I will get back my form in Asia Pacific Classic, though this week was not good for me. I know it is part of the game,” Siddikur told UNB before leaving the country.
Another Bangladesh golfer, Zamal Hossain Mollah must missed the chance to play in the meet despite qualified to get entry in the APC– as a category-8 player [top five players of Bangladesh Open] –with finishing tied 4 in Bangladesh Open.
