Bangladesh Premier Golfer Siddikur Rahman maintained a narrow one-shot advantage as the final round of the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open got under way in difficult conditions at Four Seasons Golf Club at Anahita as reports received on Sunday.
The course and the wind had proved a tough challenge for the players all week and with rain arriving on Sunday morning, there were just three players under par in the early stages.
Siddikur, searching for a first European Tour win, bogeyed the third to drop to six under after three holes but that was enough to keep him a shot clear of playing partner Jeunghun Wang who had bogeyed the first.
Nicolas Colsaerts was then at one under with Andrew Dodt and Natipong Srithong a shot further back.
Dodt suffered an early blow as a double-bogey on the first made it eight shots dropped in his last seven holes as he fell to one under.
Playing partners Scott Hend and Brandon Stone both made bogey on the first meaning there were just four players under par and the difficulties on the opening hole continued when the final group got under way.
Colsaerts and Wang both dropped a shot meaning a par was enough to see Siddikur extend his lead to two.
Dodt birdied the second but made another double on the third after a poor chip and Colsaerts soon joined him at level par when trouble off the tee and three putts resulted in a double-bogey on the second.
Siddikur and Wang both made pars on the second and with those the only two players under par, it looked like it could develop into a two-horse race.
The two-time Asian Tour winner left himself on a risk on the third and could only find the bunker but recovered brilliantly to drop just a single shot and his lead was cut to one.
