Leading Bangladesh’s golfer Siddikur Rahman believes if he able to play his natural game, it will be possible to bring a respectable result for the country in the Rio Olympics hoping to bring a respectable result for the country.
Before start of his event he expressed high hope by saying, “If I am able to play my natural game, then there is chance of a respectable result …. because, when I move with a specific target in the competition I will not get the expected result.”
Earlier, last month, the 31-year-old winner of two Asian Tour titles was placed in 56th position in the final eligibility list for the Rio 2016 Games, therefore becoming the first Bangladeshi athlete to participate in the Games through direct qualification.
Golfer Siddikur Rahman is the first athlete who qualified for an Olympics based performance in the competition.
Bangladesh’s next event will be swimming when Mahfizur Rahman Sagar, who carried the national flag in the London Olympics, is the only member of the team to have prior experience of Olympics participation, will splash in the pool for men’s 50-metre freestyle heats on August 12.
On the same day female swimmer Sonia Akhtar Tumpa will make her attempt in the 50-metre freestyle heats.
Country’s fastest woman Shirin Akhtar will test her skill in the 100-metre sprint preliminary round on August 12 and fastest man Mesbah Ahmed will conclude Bangladesh’s campaign by taking part in the 100-metre sprint preliminary round.
