The third Dash-8-400 aircraft purchased from Canada named ‘Shwetabalaka’ has landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Friday evening.
Earlier, the Dash-8 model aircraft, manufactured by Canadian aircraft manufacturer De Havilland, left for Bangladesh from Bombardier Aerospace.
Three Dash-8 models were procured on G2G basis between the Governments of Bangladesh and Canada. The first two of the three Dash-8 aircraft, purchased on a Government-to-Government basis from Canada, were added to the fleet on December 27, 2020, and February 24, 2021, respectively.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has named the aircraft “Shwetbalaka”, says a press release of Biman. The new Dash 8-400 is a 74-seater aircraft. The Dash-8-400 model aircraft will increase its flight frequency on domestic and short-haul routes.
The number of aircraft in the Biman fleet is 21 with the inclusion of “Shwetbalaka”.
