Shuttler couple Wahiduzaman Raju-Shapla Akter lost their everything to hijackers. The incident was held at 5.30 AM on Thursday in front of Killerpool Dredger Office in Narayanganj. Raju and Shapla returned to their home by a rickshaw.
Shapla Akter, the champion in the girls’ singles of the National Badminton Competition went to Pabna to see her father, who was ill. Later, Shapla returned to Narayanganj by night coach. Her husband Wahiduzzaman Raju was waiting for her at the Khanpur bus stand in Narayanganj. Then they returned to their home by a rickshaw. But when they reached Killarpool area, three hijackers attacked them.
Former Badminton player Wahiduzzaman Raju and who is the coach of Shapla Akter said, ” It was raining heavily. We were returning to home by a rickshaw. After going some time three hijackers attacked us from the front side and the backside of the rickshaw. A hijacker showed a knife to the neck of Shapla and the two other muggers snatched everything from our possession.”
Raju said, ” It might be more dangerous. So, we didn’t shout. They robbed our two mobile phone sets, a gold chain of Shapla, gold bracelet of Shapla, US $ 200 from Shapla’s bag, Taka ten thousand from her bag, Taka four thousand from my moneybag. In total we lost at least Taka one and a half lakh. Thanks to the Almighty that we were not physically assaulted by them.”
A case was filed at Narayanganj Model Police Station in this connection.
