Shrimp trader dies from fear of robber attack

A shrimp enclosure owner died from fear of robber attack at Bahultali area under Khutakhali union in Chakaria upazila here early Wednesday. At that time, four persons including enclosure labourer were also injured as robbers shot at them.
The deceased was identified as Mojaffar Ahmed, 50, son of late Kabir Ahmed of Napitkhali area of the union.
Chairman of Khutakhali union parishad Abdur Rahman said a robber gang of 30/35 members swooped on the Machhuarjora shrimp enclosure jointly owned by 40 people, at 1am. At that time, hearing gunshots Mojaffar died on the spot due to heart failure.
Besides, four injured including Abdur Rahim, 40, son of Abdu Shukkur of Khutakhali Hazipara, Shamsul Alam, 38, son of Ledu Mia of Nalbonia, Mokter Ahmad, 35, son of Ameer Hamza, and Syed Alam, 35, son of late Ameer Hamza of Nayapara area in the union, were admitted to Chakaria upazila health complex.
The robbers looted shrimp worth about Tk 3 lakh including enclosure materials at that time.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Chakaria Police Station Probhas Chandra Dhar said on information police raided the area but could not arrest anybody.
