Shrimp pollen worth Tk 3m recovered, 37 workers fined in Barisal

A team of Fisheries Department in a drive on Thursday recovered more than one million shrimp-pollen( Renu Pona) worth Tk 30 lakh from a truck.
Thirty-seven workers also detained during the drive, said district fishery officer Wahiduzzaman .
He said on basis of tip-off about smuggling shrimp pollen they detained a truck crossing C and B Road area in the city on Thursday morning.
Searching the vehicle with the help of law enforcers they found it was carring huge plastic barrels filling with shrimp polen.
Thirty-seven workers related with carrying that shrimp-pollen were also detained by the law enforcers.
All of them came from different areas of Bhola and Laxmipur, sources said.
Police produced the shrimp-pollen with detained workers to a mobile court led by Kalyan Chowdhury, administrative magistrate of Barisal district administration .
The court realised fines total Tk. 97 thousand from the detained 37 workers for carrying shrimp pollen.
Later, the recovered shrimp-pollen released on the Kirtankhola River at noon by order of the court, said fishery official.
