District Police has served a show-cause notice on an Inspector (Investigation) of Sreemangal Police Station and closed another Sub-Inspector (SI) and Investigation Officer (IO) for their “failure” to arrest a rape accused in Moulvibazar district.
The show-cause notice was served on Inspector Sohel Rana on Sunday as he failed to take proper step to arrest the accused of a case filed over the rape of a sixth-grader, said Mohammad Shah Jalal, Superintendent of districtPolice.
A school girl was raped in the upazila on April 16 and the victim’s family filed a case with the police station accusing one Munna Mia, 18, on April 18. The girl is now undergoing treatment at Moulvibazar Sadar Hospital, the police official told our Moulvibazar correspondent.
Meanwhile, RAB-9 Sreemangal Camp’s ASP Kamruzzaman said, a team of the elite force arrested Munna from his village in Sreemangal on Friday night and handed him over to the police station.
Contacted, OC Sohel Rana said he has responded to the notice saying that he undertook legal action in this connection soon after the case was lodged with the police station.
