Entertainment Report :
Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud informed the media that a show-cause notice has been served on Nargis Sultana, an inspector of the Wildlife Crime Control Unit, who filed the case over ‘Shalik bird controversy’ in the movie ‘Hawa.’ The Minister informed
this at a meeting with film producers, directors, artistes and other stakeholders on Monday afternoon.
“Recent films have brought audiences back to the cinema halls again. ‘Hawa’ is such a film which was able to do so. I was abroad when the case was filed against the director. After returning home, I talked
to the officials and now steps have been taken to withdraw the case,” said
Dr Hasan Mahmud.
“If there was a violation of the law, they should have given a notice to the director. It was inappropriate to directly go to court and file a case against the director,”
he added. However, Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change has taken the initiative to settle the case filed on the ‘Shalik bird controversy.’ According to a press release issued by Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, director of the film Mezbaur Rahman Sumon, has applied for reaching an understanding over the issue.
On August 11, a four-member team from the Wildlife Crime Control Unit watched ‘Hawa’ at the Bashundhara City branch of Star Cineplex in Dhaka.
