An Afghanistan-Bangladesh joint venture short film directed by Diana Saqeb Jamal, ‘Roqaia’ is set to participate in the upcoming 76th Venice International Film Festival. The 11-day event will begin from August 28 at Venice Lido, Italy.
Jointly produced by Arifur Rahman and Bijon Imtiaz from Bangladesh, the film has been made under the banner of Goopy Bagha Productions and Afghanistan’s I-Khanom Cinema. The ten-minute ‘Roqaia’ has been selected in the festival’s Orizzonti segment. The lead roles of the film are portrayed by Roqia Rasuli, Gavhar Taj Salmanian, Asadullah Rasuli and Qorban Ali Salmanian. The 76th Venice International Film Festival is organized by La Biennale di Venezia with the aim to raise awareness and promote international cinema in all its forms as art, entertainment and as an industry, in a spirit of freedom and dialogue..
