Bangladesh Food Safety Authority has asked shopkeepers in Gulshan areas to preserve necessary documents relating to food items.
The authority made the warning while inspecting the grocery shops at Gulshan-2 under the Dhaka North City Corporation Market on Thursday, according to a press release.
During inspection, it found that the shopkeepers did not preserve their documents like the purchasing memos of food items. It was also found that they (shopkeepers) did not renew their trade licenses.
The authority termed these as anti-food safety activities. It gave the shopkeepers June 12 as the deadline to correct their activities. If they failed to correct themselves within the time, they would have to face the punishment.
The authority also distributed some books and pamphlets relating to the food safety laws, added the release.
