The biennial election of Bangladesh Shop Owners’ Association, Chittagong unit was held at a city community centre recvently.
The 101-member executive committee of the Association was elected unanimously.
President of Bangladesh Restaurant Owners’ Association and Bangladesh Sweetmeat Manufacturers Association Alhaj Saleh Ahmed Suleman was elected President of BSOA. President of Chittagong Decorators Association Haji Md. Shahabuddin elected as Senior vice President and the President of New Market Merchants’ Association Md. Sagir as General secretary.
City Mayor AJM Nasir Uddin graced the occasion as chief guest. Member of the Parliamentary Atanding committee on Ministry of Shipping MA Latif MP, President of Chittagong Chamber of Commerce Mahbubul Alam, Chamber Director Wahid Siraj Swapan, Councilor Shaibal das Sumon, Editor of Chittagong Mancha Syed Omar Faruk were present as special guests.
The chief guest announced the names of the President, senior vice president and the general secretary and Chamber President declared the names of the 101- executive committee members. The chief guest in his brief deliberations urges the dwellers of the port city to resist any sorts of militancy, terrorism and conspiracy against the govt as well as the country. He sought cooperation from all irrespective of caste and creed to extend cooperation to the ongoing development activities of the corporation. He desires to turn the city into a clean and green city.
Haji Md. Shahabuddin presided over the biennial conference before the vote casting. Leaders of the different association member of the apex body also spoke in the conference, sources said.
