The shop owners in the Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) area have been asked to keep the space in front of their shops clean. They have also been urged not to store goods on road and footpath to make pavement free for pedestrians.
DNCC Mayor Annisul Huq gave this direction at a view exchange programme titled “Businessmen’s Role in Eradicating Civil Sufferings” with the shop owners at the Gulshan Club on Thursday.
He also warned of legal action in case of disobliging.
The Mayor said, the eviction drive is underway and it will continue.
The Mayor further asked the shop owners not to occupy even an inch of public space to store their goods.
Annisul Huq also told the shop owners to dispose their waste in the DNCC trash bins, instead of throwing them at erratic spots.
DCC waste cleaners will pick the garbage at night.
Various shop owners’ association’s office bearers attended the seminar and gave their consent to the Mayor’s directives.
Among others, SA Quader Kiron, President of Bangladesh Dokan Malik Samity, Sheikh Mohammad, Chairman of Gulshan DCC market and others were present in the programme.
