Shooting Federation to arrange victory rally in capital today

Bangladesh Shooting Sports Federation will arrange a victory rally in the capital today (Tuesday) for its two silver medalists – country’s only medals – as they return home from the just-concluded 21st Commonwealth Games on Australia’s Gold Coast.
Two silver medalists of Bangladesh, shooters Abdullah Hel Baki and Shakil Ahmed, who celebrated the Bengali New Year in the Australian city of Brisbane with Bangladeshi expatriates, are expected to return home Monday night.
Shooter Abdullah Hel Baki brought laurel for Bangladesh clinching the first silver medal in the just concluded games in the men’s 10-meter air rifles while Shakil Ahmed added another pleasure for the country clinching the 2nd silver medal in the men’s 50-meter pistol.
The victory rally will begin Tuesday at 4pm from Bangladesh Shooting Sports Federation office at Gulshan-1 and concluded at the same place after parading Hatirjheel, Gulshan-1 and Gulshan-2 areas of the city.
This will be the first initiative of the Shooting Federation to honor the shooters. Later, they will arrange a grand reception for them in which they will be handed over their pre-promised prize money of Tk 7 lac each along with Bangladesh Olympic Association’s prize money of Tk five lac each.
A total 26 Bangladeshi athletes to take part in six disciplines, although ill-fate meant it was denied participation in Boxing.
