Off-spinner Shohag Gazi will appear in bowling action test on January 24 at Chennai in India. His bowling action test will be held at the laboratory of Sri Ramchandra University in Chennai.
Chairman of Cricket Operations Committee of BCB Akram Khan said, “Shohag Gazi will leave the city for India on January 23. After that his bowling action will be examined. Earlier, we sent a letter to ICC. ICC fixed the date on January 24.”
Shohag Gazi, a man from Barisal is working hard to rectify his bowling action.
Gazi hopes he will return to international cricket after correcting his bowling action.
The umpires reported against the bowling action of Shohag Gazi on August 24, 2014 when Shohag Gazi was taking part in the Test match against West Indies. After that ICC told Shohag Gazi to take part in the examination of his bowling action within 21 days.
Later, Shohag Gazi took part in his bowling action test at the laboratory of Cardiff Metropolitan University in England on September 19. He bowled six overs in that examination. Then ICC has banned Shohag Gazi from all sorts of international cricket competitions on October 8 as ICC got negative report against him.
According to ICC rule, a bowler can stretch his elbow within 15 degree when he bowls in the international match. But Shohag Gazi extended his elbow more than 15 degree when he bowled. He sometimes extended his elbow even over 30 degree when he threw his deliveries. ICC referred that matter to BCB after his test at the laboratory of Cardiff Metropolitan University in England.
According to the rules of ICC, if any bowler fails to rectify his bowling action in his second examination, he will not be allowed to bowl in any international cricket competition and he can not appear in any bowling action test for one year.
