The Shito-ryu Karate Do Championship will begin Saturday (August 8) at the National Sports Council Gymnasium.
Organised by Shito-ryu Karate Do Union, near about 300 participants from Bangladesh Army, Bangladesh Ansar, Bangladesh Police, District Sports Associations and different karate associations from across the country are expected to take part in the two-day meet.
The championship included men’s, women’s and junior event. The men’s events are singles kata and teamevent kata (45 kg, 50 kg, 55kg, 60 kg, -67 kg and -75 kg) and the women’s events are singles kata and open kumi (45 kg -50 kg, -55 kg and -61 kg) while the junior event is singles kata U-12 boys’ and girls’).
Apart from certificates, gold, silver and bronze medals will be distributed in each event.
Besides, the champion team of the open teamevent kumi will get Taka 20,000 while the runners-up will have Taka 10,000 as prize money.
In this regard, a press conference was held Tuesday at the Bangabandhu National Stadium conference room to give all the details of the meet.
Film actor and Shito-ryu Karate Do Union president Masud Parvez Rubel and general secretary Nazmul Hasan Ovi, among others, were present on the occasion.
