A six-day book fair is set to begin today at Bangladesh Shishu Academy on the occasion of the 100th birthday of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the National Children’s Day.
Bangla Academy Chairman and National Professor Anisuzzaman will inaugurate the fair as the chief guest at 5pm on Thursday. Women and Children Affairs Secretary Kamrun Nahar will attend the programme as the special guest.
Eminent writer and Chairman of Shishu Academy Selina Hossain will preside over the inaugural function.
A total of 70 publishing houses will participate in the fair. The main theme of the fair is ‘Bangabandhu’s birthday, make children’s life colourful’.
Cultural programme will be held everyday at the fair venue. Children will recite poems, sing songs and participate in the programme. The fair would remain open for public from 3pm to 7pm every day, but in holidays from 11am to 7pm.
