Shipra Debnath, who accompanied slain Major (retd) Sinha Mohammad Rashed Khan, failed to file a case under the Digital Security Act with Cox’s Bazar Sadar Model Police Station.
Shahedul Islam Sifat and Shipra Debnath went to the police station with their lawyer at 12 midnight on Wednesday to lodge the case against superintendent of Sathkhira police Mizanur Rahman and PBI’s SP Mizanur Rahman Shelly and 150 unknown persons on charge of circulating her private photos on social media.
Shipra’s lawyer Adv Mahbubul Haque Tipu said, “The police station OC refused to record the case and advised us to lodge the case with Ramu Police Station and special tribunal.”
Her mental condition is not good. She is not willing to meet the media, Mahbubul Haque added.
Earlier, Stamford University student Shipra Debnath informed that she will file a case against police officials who posted her private photos on social media under the Digital Security Act.
In a video message, Shipra said, “Police took two monitors, a laptop, a desktop, a camera, lenses, three hard drives and our phones from our cottage on the night of Major Sinha’s killing. But any of them were not mentioned in the sized list. I do not know how or to whom I will ask to return those things to us.”
“Some police officers are circulating different photos from our personal profiles and devices and sharing those on social media. Fake Facebook ID and Instagram ID have been opened in my name. I promise, I will take appropriate action under the Digital Security Act against those who made my personal life unbearable by making various videos and photo.”
