Shipra Debnath, an associate of slain ex-Major Sinha, faced social media backlash after posting controversial video message on YouTube channel.
The online platforms are flooded with the comments criticizing Shipra over her recently uploaded video and face book pictures. In an interview with German-based news agency Deutsche Welle (DW), Shipra Debnath avoided the issue of murder. Questioned also raised why she avoided it?
Recently in a video message, posted on social media Shipra Debnath, urged for subscribing their YouTube channel “Just Go” instead of condemning Major (retd) Sinha Md Rashed Khan killing that also made angry the netizens.
If there is nothing to say about the murder, why she came in a live face book event just after the murder? Even though, Shipra said that she taught sinha how to operate camera and others, not relevant in the issues, few of them said in their comments.
Dhaka University’s Law Professor Dr Asif Nazrul in his Face book status wrote, I got thundered to see a video uploaded by Shipra Debnath over Major (retd) Sinha murder. It means that Shipra’s main intention was to get control over the YouTube channel, not seeking the justice of Sinha’s murder. The way the girl said Sinha was ‘dead’ there, it was as anyone had killed him, or he had fallen from a hill and died!
Former military officer Shahid Khan ashed on his face book post that why didn’t she go with Sinha on the day? Was she advised not to go? Why is she not seeking justice for Sinha’s murder in the media, but promoting herself to be a star? What is Shipra without Sinha and who is she? ‘
Former Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (Ducsu) Vice President Nurul Haque Nur wrote, “We didn’t took to the streets to make you Shipra celebrities. We were for bringing out the truth. If we hadn’t taken the streets, you would have stay in prison for long time with harassments.
The nation was upset for your stand. We hoped you will raise voice with demand for justice, Nur further wrote.
Ahamed Istiak named face book ID holder wrote status in favour of Shipra. He wrote that Shipra Debnath was criticized for her religious identity as she belongs to Hindu religion. She becomes target because she talked about her dream.
Istiak further wrote where he criticized about the face booker’s mentality over dress as people were attacked Shipra over her modern fashioned outfits.
He wrote Shipra is a citizen of a sovereign country where she has right to choose her dress and of course she bought her dress by her money, not others. So, you have no right to criticize her over wearing clothes.
Major Sinha was shot dead by police at Shamlapur check post in Baharchhara union on Cox’s Bazar-Teknaf Marine Drive on the night of August 31. Shipra Rani Debnath along with her classmates Shahedul Islam Sifat and Tahsin Rifat Noor was with Sinha.
