Chief engineer of Department of Shipping Nazmul Hasan suspended from his office Sunday (April 15) three day after being caught red-handed while taking bribe from a shipping company in Dhaka.
He was earlier sent to jail after being produced before Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court by Anti Corruption Commission (ACC). The court denied his bail plea and ordered to send him to jail.
A team led by ACC official Nasim Anwar arrested Nazmul Hasan in Segunbagicha Thursday evening (April 12). He was caught red-handed while taking Tk 5 lakh bribe money.
The drive was planned after receiving a complaint from M/S Syed Shipping Mind, said the ACC official.
Nazmul demanded Tk 15 lakh as bribe to approve the ship and the design of the company and also took the first installment of the money earlier, added Nasim.
