Chittagong Bureau :City Mayor AJM Nasir Uddin said shipbuilding industries can play vital role in upgrading the GDP growth and sustainability of the countries economy. He disclosed it while addressing the 5th founding anniversary of Makkah Marine Ship Builders of Chittagong held at a city posh community centre recently as Chief Guest. He said shipbuilding sector can undoubtedly challenge the GDP growth of the 21st century. He called upon the concerned authorities to extend possible cooperation to this sector for the better interest of the country. Chairman of IMS group and noted industrial entrepreneur, social personality Alhaj Abul Bashar Abu presided over the founding anniversary programme and doa mahfil. Chairman Abul Bashar Abu in his brief deliberations emphasized the mitigation of the unemployment crisis through this sector’s development. He said this sector also contributed an important example in increasing the forex earnings. Among others, Chittagong Chamber President Mahbubul Alam, Principal officer of Mercentile Marine Deptt, Chittgong Alhaj Shafiqul Islam, Managing Director of Western Marine Shipyard Engr.
