UNB, Bagerhat :
After four months of its arrival at Mongla port, MV Pintail, a Cyprus-flagged ship, left the port on Friday with 21,000 tonnes of substandard wheat.
Harbour Master Commander of Mongla Port KM Hasan said the ship left the port for Singapore in the morning.
On October 12 last year, MV Pintail anchored at the port with a consignment of some 21,000 tonnes of wheat imported from France.
However, officials of the Directorate General of Food found the grain rotten as well as infested with
insects and unfit for consumption just before the consignment was being unloaded, said Controller (Movement) of Khulna directorate office Saiful Islam.
Earlier, MV Pintail reached Chittagong port with a consignment of 52,000 tonnes of wheat in April last year.
After unloading some 31,000 tonnes of grain there, the ship started for Mongla port with the rest.
