Shinepukur Cricket Club beat Dhaka Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited by 41 runs in their first match of the Bangabandhu Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League (DPL) at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in the city’s Mirpur on Wednesday.
Sent into bat first, Shinepukur piled up a fighting total of 250 runs for the loss of seven wickets in the stipulated 50 overs and then all out Mohammedan for 209 off 48.3 overs.
Fourth-down Sajjadul Haque of Shinepukur Cricket Club notched up his team’s highest of 70 runs. He hit six fours and two sixes in his 59-ball innings.
Number-8 batter Alauddin Babu remained unbeaten with 46 runs. His 19-ball windy innings was studded with three sixes and four fours. Later, he captured two wickets at the cost of 55 runs. Alauddin Babu was adjudged the Man of the Match for his all-round performance.
Shinepukur’s Zimbabwean recruit Sikandar Raza knocked a polished 42. His 74-ball innings saw two fours and two sixes.
Opener Rakin Ahmed made 39 from 74 deliveries featuring four fours.
Soumya Sarkar grabbed three wickets in the space of 52 runs.
Salauddin Sakil bagged two wickets instead of 49 runs.
Mohammad Hafeez and Sohrawordi Shuvo took one wicket each conceding 33 and 44 runs respectively. Opener Parvez Hossain Emon of Dhaka Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited hit a fine 54. His 88-ball innings had three fours and a sixer.
Fifth-down Sohrawordi Shuvo struck a sparkle 51. He hit five fours in his 52-ball knock.
Number-10 batter Yeasin Arafat hit a respectable 38. His 42-ball innings was studded with two sixes and three fours.
Anisul Islam Emon and Sikandar Raza bagged two wickets each for 14 and 36 runs respectively.
Nayeem Hasan took one wicket instead of 26 runs.
