Ferry services on the Shimulia-Kawrakandi route in the Padma river resumed after four hours’ disruption caused by dense fog on Tuesday early morning.
Jasim Uddin, assistant manager of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) at Shimulia ghat, said they kept suspended ferry services and plying of the water vessels from 4:00 am to 08:00 am dueto blurred visibility for dense fog.
Three ferries with a large number of vehicles and passengers were kept anchored at Shimulia and Kewrakandi ferry terminals from 4.00am.
Several hundred vehicles were kept waiting on both sides of the river for crossing. However, ferry services resumed around 8:00 am as fog disappeared after the sunrise.
