Shilpakala Padak to be given to seven persons

BSA also to mark Int'l Mother Language Day, its founding anniversary

This year Shilpakala Padak 2014 will be given to seven noted persons for their contributions in the filed of seven sectors.
Ustad Bazlur Rahman, Pandit Amresh Roy Chowdhury, Pandit Madan Gopal Das, Syed Abdullah Khalid, Ashraful Alam, Lucky Inam and Dr Shahidul Alam will get the awards in categories of dance, vocal music, instrumental music, fine arts, recitation, drama and photography respectively.
These seven persons will also get Tk one lakh, a medal and certificate each.
This was announced by Director General of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) Liaquat Ali Lucky at a press conference held at Seminar Room of National Theatre Hall of the Academy in the city’s Segunbagicha area on Tuesday.
The awards will be given by President Md Abdul Hamid as the chief guest on February 19, the 41st founding anniversary of BSA, at the National Theatre Hall. Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Noor MP will be present as special guest, while Cultural Affairs Secretary Dr Ranjit Kumar Biswas will preside over the session. The BSA Director General said.
Therefore, on the occasion of founding anniversary of BSA a two-day programme is scheduled to be held on February 19 and 20 on the Academy premises, he said.
Lucky also mentioned that on the occasion of International Mother Language Day BSA will organize a special programme at the Central Shahid Minar on February 21.
