Shilpakala Academy commemorates film, music and jatra icons

The Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) is holding a week-long programme titled ‘Smriti Sotta Bhobishyot’ to pay its tribute to late iconic personalities in the mediums of film, music
and jatra, said a press release.
The inaugural ceremony of the week-long event was held on Wednesday at the National Music and Dance Centre auditorium of the BSA.
Movie Surjodighol Bari famed director Masihuddin Shaker presided over the event where musician Rafiquzzaman, critic Salimullah Khan and filmmaker Junaid Ahmed Halim also spoke.
The event featured seminars on iconic film personalities like Hiralal Sen, Satyajit Ray, Kobori Sarwar, Tarek Masud, Suchitra Sen, Munir Chowdhury and Amalendu Biswas.
On the third day of the event, seminar was held on Tarek Masud at 6:00pm on Friday. Belayet Hossain Mamun presented the keynote paper at the seminar, while Moinuddin Khaled and Proshun Rahman were among the discussants.
At 7:00pm, a seminar was also held on Suchitra Sen. Dr Mohammad Jahangir Hossain presented the keynote paper while Mumu Rahman and Dr Tuhin Abonto joined in the discussion.
Then Tarek Masud directorial movie Matir Moyna was also screened on the occasion.
The week-long event will continue till July 3 at the same venue, said the organisers.
