Facing legal action in India for illegally entering the country, BNP leader Salahuddin Ahmed will appear before a lower court in the Indian state of Meghalaya for a hearing on Wednesday.
Public prosecutor IC Jha told bdnews24.com by phone that the hearing would be held to frame charges in the case. Meghalaya police submitted a chargesheet in the court of the additional deputy commissioner (Judicial) on June 3 wherein it claimed that the surprise landing of the BNP
leader in India was “intentional” to avoid trial for several offences in Bangladesh.
Salahuddin was booked under Section 14 of the Foreigners Act for entering India without valid travel documents after he was found moving aimlessly at the Golf Link area of Shillong on May 11.
