UNB, Sirajganj :An activist of Islami Chhatra Shibir was killed in a ‘gunfight’ at Dhanbandhi in Sadar upazila early Monday amid the countrywide dawn-to-dusk hartal, enforced by Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami protesting the execution of condemned war criminal M Kamaruzzaman.The deceased was identified as Anisur Rahman Anis,19, son of Jahangir Alam, a resident of Goihatta village in Ullapara upazila, Sirajganj and an activist of the local unit of Islami Chhatra Shibir.Officer-in-charge of Sirajganj Sadar Police Station Habibul Islam said police fired shots at Shibir activists as they hurled crude bombs towards them during a drive in Dhanbandi area around 12:30am, leaving Anis critically injured. He was rushed to Sadar Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries around 5:45am. A case was filed.
