Shibirman hurt in Satkhira cop firing

A local activist of Islami Chhatra Shibir sustained bullet injuries in police firing during a clash at Khettarapara village in Kalaroa upazila on Wednesday.
The injured was identified as Humayun Kabir, 22, son of Ayub Ali of the village.
On information that a group of Shibir men were holding a clandestine meeting in a river bank of the village, a police team conducted a drive there around 1pm, said sub-inspector Sabur Ahmed of Kalaroa Police Station.
Sensing the presence of the law enforcers, the Shibir activists started hurling crude bombs and brickbats at them, prompting police to retaliate. Police fired seven gunshots, leaving Humayun bullet wounded.
The injured was first whisked off to Kalaroa Upazila Health Complex and then shifted to the district hospital following deterioration of his condition. However, other activists managed to flee the spot.
Police said, Humayun is an accused in the local Jubo League leader Mehedi Hassan Jaz Miah murder case.
