Shibir leader killed by BCL men in Jessore

Staff Reporter :An Islami Chhatra Shibir leader was stabbed to death by Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) in the Michael Madhusudan (MM) College campus in Jessore on Monday afternoon.The victim was identified as Mahibullah, 22, a leader of Asad Hall unit of the college. He was son of Niamat Ali, hailing from Sharsha upazila.Two other Shibir activists were also critically injured during the attack. They have been identified as Kamrul Hasan, 23, and Abdullah Al Mamun, 21. The injured students are undergoing treatment at Jessore Medical College and Hospital (JMCH, police said. Quoting the witnesses, Shikder Akkas Ali, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Sharsha Police Station, said, “A gang of BCL activists stabbed the Shibir men while they were gossiping themselves in front of the Asad Hall of the college around 5:30pm. At one staged, Mahibullah was died on the college premises after much bleeding. Locals rescued Kamrul and Mamun and rushed them to the JMCH in critical condition.Police recovered the body following the information and sent it to the JMCH morgue for an autopsy, the police official said.”We are trying to arrest the killers in a short time,” the OC said.No case was filed in this connection till filing the report at around 10:00pm of Monday. Additional police personnel were deployed in the college campus to avert any untoward situation, he said.
