Police in Kotchandpur upazila of Jhenaidah arrested an activist of the Islami Chhatra Shibir, the student wing of Jamaat -e- Islami from Dayarampur Kamil madrashah in Kotchanddpur upazila on Monday morning.
The arrested was identified as Akram Hossain, 26, son of Alam Biswas of Arenda village under same upazila, the police said.
Kotchandpur police station officer in charge Ahmed Kabir Chowdhury said, they were informed that a gang of Shibir men were planning attempt for attacking in the locality. The police at about 5.00 AM raided the madrashah and arrested Akram Hossain form the spot.
The police also recovered a shutter gun with 10 rounds of ammunitions, 15 militant books, a Chinese axe and two swords from his possession. The other associates of the arrested flee sensing the police presence.
A case was filed with Kotchandpur police station in this connection. The arrested will be produced in the court after the primary interrogation, the police said.
