Former Secretary of Chittagong Union of Journalists (CUJ) Nazimuddin Shgamal and the incumbent Secretary Hasan Ferdous have been elected President and General secretary of CUJ respectively in the biennial election held on Wednesday .
Election Commissioner Moazzemul Hoque declared the result of the election at 9 pm. 25 candidates vied for nine posts of the EC committee. Out of total 392 voters, 361 casted votes in favour of their candidates. Nazimuddin Shamal obtained 179 votes against his rival candidate Riaz Haider Chowdhury who gets 170 votes. Moinuddin Dulal elected seniorvice president getting 169 votes against his rival Ratan Kanti.
The immediate past secretary Md. Ali elected Vice President defeating Absar Mahfuz. The immediate past Secretary Hasan Ferdous elected Secretary with 192 votes.
