UNB, Dhaka :The 52nd death anniversary of Sher-e-Bangla AK Fazlul Haque will be observed on Sunday with due respect. Various socio-political organisations, including Awami League, BNP and Dhaka University, have chalked out elaborate programmes to mark the day.The programmes include placing wreaths and offering fateha at the grave of the great leader, milad and discussions in the city and elsewhere across the country.AK Fazlul Haque died on April 27 in 1962. AK Fazlul Haque held different political posts, including those of the mayor of Kolkata (1935), chief minister of undivided Bengal (1937-1943) and East Pakistan (1954), home minister of Pakistan (1955) and governor of East Pakistan (1956- 58).Meanwhile, President Abdul Hamid, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia have issued separate messages on the occasion.The President, in his message, said the nation will remember with great gratitude the contributions of Sher-e-Bangla to the socio-economic development of farmers and labourers i.e working class people.In her message, the Prime Minister said Sher-e-Bangla struggled throughout his life for the economic emancipation of the country’s farmers.Khaleda Zia in her message said AK Fazlul Haque was vocal till the last day of his life to realise the rights of country’s people. “He’ ll ever be remembered in the history for his strong role in the anti-British Movement.
