Barisal Bibhag Kalyan Sangstha (BBKS) on Sunday announced the name of the awardees of Sher-e-Bangla Memorial Award-2016 at the office of Dhaka University Journalists’ Association.
Chairman of Bangladesh Krishi Bank and President of BBKS Mohammad Ismail announced the result at a press conference.
BBKS General Secretary Shah Alam, Convenor of Sher -e-Bangla Memorial Award-2016 Dr M Kamal Uddin Jasim, Women Affairs Secretary of the BBKS and Provost of Shamsunnar Hall Professor Jakia Parvin and Former President of Dhaka University Journalists’ Association M M Jasim were present at the function.

The organization began scholarship distribution to meritorious students from 1998 including various development works for society since its establishment. The organization has given scholarships for more than seven thousand students. This year, the scholarships will be awarded to the 520 meritorious students.
Barisal Division Welfare Association was established in 1992 in order to inspire the next generation in patriotism and immortalize the life and works of Sher-e-Bangla AK Fazlul Haque.
The main goals of the organization are eradication of unemployment and illiteracy, various programs for the expansion of education by providing scholarships in memory of Sher-e-Bangla.
